Artist Statement

The term Negative Space refers to the spaces between objects. Observational drawing is the most basic way of exploring these relationships, but these investigations of forms in space is also the basis of sculpture, dance, and architecture.

My 3D assemblages also express a belief in the beauty in everyday, discarded, and found objects.

The 3D collages are employed as a way of expressing a darker, more dreamlike aspect of my personality. The ceramic and Aquaplast work is another way of expressing my sense of spatiality.

The term Acceptable Losses comes from the military, describing a sense of resolve at the sacrifices made in order to survive.
